We are proud to be an integral partner in one of the fastest growing communities in South Carolina and are centrally located near many of the state's top destinations, with Lake Murray nestled in our backyard. Our team has been manufacturing premium tires for passenger and light truck vehicles since 1981. Our facility is over 3 football fields in length, employs more than 1,800 team members and utilizes a variety of complex tire building machinery. We are committed to positively impacting the community through volunteer efforts. Our purpose centers around driving excellence and innovation with our people at the heart of our organization.

Michelin is currently looking for a highly motivated Material Industrialization Engineer to join our team at our Lexington US5 Plant. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a world-class manufacturing environment for one of the top-rated employers in the midlands. As a Material Industrialization Engineer, you will play a vital role in introducing new semi-finished materials to the market for our innovative line of tires. This position offers the chance to work closely with our North American Research and Development Team in Greenville to successfully implement new materials and processes. Join Michelin and open countless possibilities for long-term career growth and development.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Work closely with our Central Research & Development teams in Greenville to bring new semi-finished materials, such as rubber mixes and calendered tissues, to market for our world class passenger and light truck tires.
  • Participate in material properties and tire performance risk analysis to determine the best strategies for successful industrialization.
  • Conduct local risk analysis and develop action plans to address any identified issues.
  • Plan and coordinate trials qualifying new semi-finished materials for the plant.
  • Define and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with Michelin Quality Standards, sustainability goals, and manufacturing efficiency needs.
  • Lead and coordinate trials with production operators, quality technicians, and laboratory personnel.
  • Run test materials on industrial production equipment and address any issues that arise during trials.
  • Collect and analyze results, providing feedback to improve parameter set ups for future trials.
  • Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing partners to solve problems and overcome challenges during the industrialization process.
  • Spend significant time in the manufacturing area to optimize processes and resolve production issues.
  • Work with experts in the domain to perform quality tests and demonstrate the industrial robustness of new material.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Proven track record of efficient work in an industrial production environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to comprehend process and product relationships.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Process, or Chemical preferred), Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including co-ops and internships, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Excel, Word) and the ability to quickly adapt to and effectively use internal software systems.
  • Experience in meaningful data analysis (extracting / visualizing data from various file formats, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of that data being processed or displayed)
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate productively with cross-functional teams and various levels of the organization.
