Job Title : VISTA Coordinator
State Job Title : Program Specialist I
Status : Full-time, 40 hours per week
Pay range : $18.36-$31.56/hour - Offers will start at $21/hour
Schedule : TL (non-career service) - This is a temporary position expected to last at least until 9/30/25 and depending on funding, may be extended.
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The VISTA Coordinator will be a member of the UServeUtah program staff working to build capacity through Community Engagement to combat rural poverty through volunteer engagement. In this position, candidates must perform a wide variety of program support duties ranging from clerical support to complex administrative coordination. This position will have the opportunity to telework a few days a week. This position may be filled at any of the advertised levels listed below. Salary depends on the job level offered within the series. The State of Utah also allows for flexible work schedules and locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Primary responsibility for the planning and day-to-day activities of UServeUtah’s intermediary AmeriCorps VISTA program. This program builds capacity primarily in rural Utah. Duties include: Relationship development, AmeriCorps site and member recruitment, onboarding and training, subsite support and training, data tracking, and reporting.

Provide support to community engagement initiatives through the VISTA program such as: Generation Volunteer Summit, College Community Engagement Council, and the Volunteer for Good program.

Support the AmeriCorps State team through creating expanded awareness of the available opportunities in the communities where VISTAs serve.

Compose and/or prepare correspondence, memoranda, content for promotional materials, forms, newsletters, manuals and reports

Facilitate trainings, conduct and present at in-person and virtual meetings, and facilitate small and large group discussions

Perform other duties as required to support the mission and function of the agency
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES
-
This is a professional position requiring high school diploma or equivalent (Post-secondary education preferred) and two or more years’ experience in administrative or program support

Priority consideration will be afforded to applicants with AmeriCorps and/or volunteer management experience
-
Ability to think critically, prepare reports, and strategically plan
-
Experience developing relationships and working with community partners
-
Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to exercise sound judgment, take responsibility for meeting deadlines, and be a skilled problem solver

Ability to initiate projects and work independently with minimal supervision

Excellent written and verbal communication

Experience with MS Office and Google software programs
Job Series The selected candidate for this position may be brought in as an Program Specialist I with a salary range of $19.86- $$34.13 Program Specialist II with a salary range of $24.00 - $36.04. It is anticipated that this position will be hired as a Program Specialist I at a starting wage of $21 per hour.
Work Location
This position may be eligible for a hybrid/flexible work schedule after an in-office training period training during the first few months of employment . Our office is located at 3760 S. Highland Dr., Millcreek, UT 84106. A position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason. Note: Under Administrative Rule R13-4 all work must be performed within the State of Utah. As such employees should either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to within 30 days of their start date.
