Job description

Summary

This position is located in the USDA-ARS, Crop Germplasm Research Unit in College Station, TX. The collection supplies seed for breeding and screens germplasm under biotic and abiotic stresses. You will work closely with the Collection curator to maintain current stock levels, support breeding efforts throughout the country, and collaborate with cotton research projects, such as the U.S. National Cotton Germplasm Collection which houses approximately 10,000 different accessions of cotton.

  • Performs routine and recurring techniques with equipment and automated system as needed for testing and evaluating materials.
  • Tabulates, statistically analyzes and summarizes data using personal computers or software packages.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
