At CMT, we seek to deliver forward-thinking benefits offerings that support our talent philosophy, align with corporate goals, and nurture total rewards that will attract and retain top talent while supporting the needs of employees and families through their life and career stages. This Benefits Coordinator role is intended to be an entry level role that leverages the educational background and or prior benefit experience and is eager to grow within the "Benefits" domain of Human Resources. This is a hybrid position that will have an opportunity for two remote workdays, with three workdays out of our downtown St. Louis office.

Here is what you'll need:

  • Aid employees in the enrollment of insurance plans throughout new hire, qualifying life event, the annual Open Enrollment period, and assist with related projects and activities.
  • Assist with new hire benefit orientations to educate new employees on programs and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate benefit records and ensure timely updates.
  • Serve as a point-of-contact for employee benefits questions and concerns, while providing clear explanations of benefit options, eligibility, and plan details.
  • Prepare and generate benefits reports via our HRIS system (ADP) to analyze data, trends, and census information.
  • Communicate with insurance carriers and brokers to resolve coverage or enrollment discrepancies and resolve claim issues.
  • Advise the Wellness Employee Resource Group (ERG) participants to leverage company benefits plans to meet group and individual wellness goals.
  • Aid employees with family medical leave, while remaining compliant with federal and state regulations.
  • Support the Benefits Specialist with other compliance duties to adhere to federal and state legislation.
  • Support the Benefits Specialist and broader HR team with HR or administrative tasks as needed.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Prior experience in benefits administration, or insurance is preferred.
  • Knowledge of self-insured employer group health insurance is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and effectively.
  • Comfortable interacting with employees remotely via Microsoft Teams, phone, or in-person interactions.
  • Organized, flexible, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • A willingness to continuously learn, improve, and adapt in a changing environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with an HRIS system; ADP is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to use data to illustrate what trends are occurring and can be forecasted.
  • Ability to actively listen to others, ask questions when necessary, and retain strong ethics and confidentiality in all employee interactions.
  • Desire to collaborate with internal Benefits/HR team to better serve our employees and fulfill CMT's vision and mission strategies.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
  • SHRM and/or PHR certification is a plus.
  • 1-year prior benefits administration experience and/or HR Internship is preferred, ideally with a benefits focus.
  • Individual contributor, no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical requirements:

  • Physical demands vary depending on the specific nature of assigned projects. CMT is committed to providing reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities.
  • Office tasks: physical requirements are minimal and include prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to actively listen to what others are saying and ask questions as appropriate.
  • Ability to accept out-of-town travel assignments and work overtime to meet project demands.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License preferred to visit project sites, clients, and other CMT offices when public transportation is not available.
