THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION
JOB SUMMARY / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician 2 provides technical support for translational and basic research in evaluating the role of mitochondria as a therapeutic modality in the Department of Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Performs molecular biology techniques (Western Blots, Flow Cytometry, and Immunohistochemistry).
- Breeds, genotypes, weans, clips, and maintains mice in the lab.
- Extracts RNA from tissues of mice and humans.
- Assists with various mouse surgeries.
- Performs cDNA synthesis.
- Conducts expression studies using quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR).
- Maintains up-to-date records of mice status / experimental data within in-house mouse database.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
EDUCATION : Bachelor's Degree in one of the sciences. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE : OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
