Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable database solutions (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar).
  • Plan and execute database migrations across environments, including on-premises to AWS cloud (RDS/Aurora), version upgrades, and platform migrations with minimal downtime.
  • Lead database development, optimization, and automation initiatives to support infrastructure as code and modern DevOps practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define database requirements, implement best practices, and ensure data integrity and security.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and tools for database automation, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex database issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in capacity planning, backup and recovery strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Document database architectures, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing and compliance.

Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong expertise in database administration and development with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar RDBMS platforms.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) and infrastructure as code frameworks (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Experience with database migration strategies and tools, including schema migrations, data migrations, and cross-platform migrations.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud database services, specifically Amazon RDS and Aurora, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Deep understanding of database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and DevOps methodologies.
  • Solid knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery best practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.

Work Experience:

  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in database development, administration, or technical leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in designing, developing, and automating database solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Proven track record of leading or mentoring technical teams in database-related projects.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Achievements & Accomplishments:

  • Successful delivery of complex database projects with measurable business impact.
  • Recognition for process improvements, automation, or technical innovation in previous roles.

Job-Specific Criteria:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.

Cultural Fit & Soft Skills:

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on knowledge sharing and team success.

Overall Presentation Requirements:

  • Please submit a detailed resume highlighting relevant technical skills, project experience, and leadership roles.
  • Include specific examples of automation, infrastructure as code, and database optimization initiatives.
  • References or case studies demonstrating past achievements are highly desirable.
