Summary :
The Systems and Network Administrator is responsible for the organization, implementation, documentation and support of computer systems, local area network and other communications systems in use within the company.
Responsibilities :
Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware.
Analyze equipment performance records in order to determine the need for repair or replacement.
Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Perform other related duties, as assigned by management.
Skills / Abilities :
Knowledge of common data center concepts including networking, servers, and storage in rack-mountable configurations.
Knowledge of common data center software including Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Must possess a solid understanding of fundamental IT components that exist in an enterprise environment including Windows servers, clusters, database fundamentals, understanding of SQL, basic understanding of network components such as firewalls, switches, routers, and storage components.
Good project and task management skills.
Strong (written and verbal) communication skills including technical details to non-technical employees and communications to senior leaders.
Possess the ability to analyze situations and challenges in a systematic, logical approach.
Must be a highly motivated self starter, willing to tackle challenges and solve problems and deliver solutions in a professional manner.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends.
Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as the ability to work well on a team.
Ability to travel occasionally.
Required Physical Abilities :
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit / stand and use a computer for a long period of time,
Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, in handwritten forms, and printed on paper.
Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Education / Training / Licensing :
Minimum 2 years experience as Systems and Network Administrator required.
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Associates or Bachelors Degree in Information Technology related field preferred.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge in applicable areas of technology. Certifications such as those from Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix and CompTIA are preferred but not required.
