Per Diem Radiology Technologist – Level 2 Trauma Center

📍 Springfield, OR | PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center – RiverBend

Why PeaceHealth. Why Now. What’s In It for You.

If you want real schedule freedom and higher hourly pay—without committing to fixed hours or a benefits package—this role was built for you.

At PeaceHealth, we care for people with purpose. That includes our patients, our communities, and our caregivers. At our Level 2 Trauma Center in Springfield, you’ll use your skills where they matter most—while keeping control over when and how often you work.

This per diem role is ideal if you:

  • Want to pick up shifts that fit your life
  • Prefer higher take‑home pay instead of benefits
  • Are comfortable with variable hours and fast‑paced work
  • Like the option to earn more by covering evenings, nights, weekends, and hard‑to‑fill shifts

Who This Role Is Best For

  • Radiology Technologists who want maximum flexibility
  • Techs who are okay with no guaranteed hours
  • Those who prefer extra pay instead of benefits
  • Professionals who enjoy trauma‑level acuity and variety
  • Techs looking to supplement income or balance other commitments

Per Diem Availability Expectations

To maintain per diem status, technologists must be available to:

  • Work at least 3 shifts per month
  • Cover 1 holiday per year
  • Pick up 2 call shifts per month

Pay & Differentials

  • Base hourly pay: $41.67 – $58.31
    • Actual rate depends on experience, education, and collective bargaining agreement
  • 15% differential in lieu of benefits
  • Shift differentials
    • Evening: +$2.50/hr
    • Night: +$5.00/hr
    • Weekend: +$1.00/hr
  • More opportunities to earn by picking up hard‑to‑fill shifts

About the Role & Setting

  • Per Diem / Relief role
  • 0.00 FTE with variable scheduling
  • Work at a Level 2 Trauma Center
  • Fast‑paced environment with strong clinical exposure
  • Supported by a collaborative, professional imaging team
  • Union‑represented position (multiple openings may be filled from this posting)

What You’ll Do

  • Perform diagnostic X‑ray exams for inpatients, outpatients, trauma, and ED patients
  • Complete portable exams in patient rooms and clinical areas
  • Assist with surgical imaging when needed
  • Position patients accurately for clear imaging results
  • Select the correct imaging settings for each exam
  • Follow radiation safety and infection prevention practices
  • Check for pregnancy when required before exams
  • Review patient history and prior images to guide the exam
  • Explain procedures to patients in simple, reassuring terms
  • Adapt quickly when patient needs or conditions change
  • Support physicians and clinical teams with timely imaging
  • Help train students or staff when assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program (Students or recent grads may be considered)

Experience

  • 1 year of experience preferred
  • Familiarity with PACS/RIS systems required

Licenses & Certifications

  • ARRT (R) required (or ARRT‑eligible with certification within 6 months)
  • Oregon Radiologic Technologist license required
    • OBMI temporary license accepted at hire
  • BLS required upon hire
