Job description

Department Summary

The Office of Equal Opportunity and Access is responsible for working with all members of the University of Oregon community to ensure that the University of Oregon is meeting the letter and spirit of its legal obligations related to equal opportunity and nondiscrimination, and to support the university's commitment to inclusion and access to reasonable accommodations.

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Workforce Accommodations works collaboratively with others across campus to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This position is responsible for implementing the university's accommodations process for applicants and employees with disabilities. This includes working with and educating supervisors and administrators on topics such as supporting the employment of individuals with disabilities; whether the University is on notice of a request for accommodations; and the intersection of work performance concerns/misconduct and obligations under the ADA.

The Assistant Director of Workforce Accommodations may receive and work to address accessibility concerns from applicants and employees, as well as employee requests for religious accommodations and non-disability-related pregnancy modifications. The position will maintain records regarding the interactive process and may also develop and produce training programs and/or web resources relevant to the ADA and best practices for the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the workplace for campus audiences. As needed, the role will serve as a resource for colleagues to ensure compliance with respect to disability-related matters.

This position requires an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues faced by individuals from under-served and underrepresented backgrounds, as well as the ability to work effectively and appropriately in sensitive situations.

This position also requires an understanding of equal opportunity law, the ability to conduct appropriate fact-finding, and the ability to appropriately apply law and policy to individual situations.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of skills, experience, and/or education.
• Two years of experience relevant to managing the employment provisions of the ADA such as managing the interactive reasonable accommodations processor equivalent experience relevant to the analysis and application of complex policies or laws (such as workers’ compensation programs, leave administration, student accommodations, or other equivalent program/process).
