Description
As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Part-Time Indy Cycloplex staff member to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by being a crucial part of our small staff and assist in running programming and race events as well and maintaining the park its cycling venues. The task required of ICX Seasonal Staff includes customer service skills that are required for daily public operations, outdoor grounds work, interfacing with cyclists, hosting guests, instructing youth, and more.
The Indy Cycloplex, home of the Major Taylor Velodrome, is a City-owned cycling park operated by Marian University, located across the street from campus of Cold Spring Road, the 42-acre park hosts programming and race events in all cycling disciplines, and miscellaneous community events, from April through November. Event and programming support staff is needed, as well as many hours of grounds and facility improvement tasks, such as invasive species removal, outdoor cleaning, planting, construction, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
- Rider checks in and fee collection for races and training.
- Grounds work including landscaping, cleaning / clearing, set up of tents and equipment, etc.
- Events days including registration, fees, hospitality, concessions, runner, etc.
- Work possible campus and school field trips with elementary through high school.
- Normal evening programming including collecting fees and checking people in, then completing a task list of facility and grounds work.
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of needs / requirements and user groups.
- Should enjoy working cycling events - cycling knowledge a plus but not required.
