Salary – $50,000 to $60,000 based on skills and years of experience

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and / or ability required.
1. A bachelors or master’s in human resource management is preferred.
2. Must have working knowledge of nursing facility services and departmental human resource needs.
3. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions and mature judgments.
4. Must be qualified to assume the position by training and / or previous experience, preferably in a health care facility.
5. An understanding of the workplace dynamic and the ability to manage all aspects of personnel issues.
6. Be personable with staff, residents, and families in a professional and cooperative manner.
7. Must have compassion, tolerance, and understanding for the elderly.
8. Knowledge of JCAHO, OBRA, MDPH, MDPA, Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
a. Support the facility’s philosophy of care and strive to achieve its goals and objectives.
b. Direct advertising in local media to find appropriate personnel for open positions.
c. Interview advertising responders and general applicants for specific job positions.
d. Refer and place applicants in positions based on current departmental needs.
e. Hire qualified personnel for specific job positions including negotiating contract and terms of employment.
f. Complete all employment documentation for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nurses’ assistants, and support aides including :
g. Manage orientation of all new employees including :
h. Supervise new employees during their initial period of employment to determine optimum placement and promote job satisfaction.
i. Evaluate employees after thirty days, the end of the probationary period, and annually in conjunction with the relevant department heads and the Director of Nursing.
j. Design and direct department-specific and general incentive programs to encourage the optimum job performance of all employees.
k. Coordinate and supervise employee benefit programs including, but not limited to pension plan, health insurance, dental insurance, and life insurance.
l. Maintain all employee files with up-to-date documentation, evaluations, etc. in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations.
m. Attend admissions, marketing, Performance / Quality Improvement, Medicare meetings, and others as deemed appropriate.
n. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of any changes in JCAHO, Federal, State, Medicare, and Medicaid regulations, modify department policies to assure compliance, and in-service all relevant personnel accordingly.
o. Work as the weekend supervisor as part of the department head monthly rotation.
p. Furnish information regarding residents only to authorized agencies or people.
q. Follow established fire, disaster, and evacuation policies and procedures.
r. Perform other related duties as directed.
