Enterprise Architect
Position Summary : The Enterprise Architect is responsible for the assigned area of the Enterprise Architecture operations focused on aligning business goals and technology strategy and building deep consensus across the broader technology team on a unified vision of the future.
This role will bring together the technology, people, and processes necessary to support the delivery of streamlined, technology enabled business services in the assigned EA area.
This role will function as the enterprise architect with a strong Engineering background in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, and enterprise applications such as cloud computing and software service offerings.
The role will ensure business requirements are implemented in an optimized manner aligned with documented standards and best practices.
t this level, individuals must demonstrate deep technical knowledge of multiple technology domains, current global technology landscape, innovation, creativity, foresight, and mature judgment, understand program objectives and requirements, and have accountability for the assigned area of enterprise architecture operational model.
s this role progresses, the individual takes on more leadership responsibility and serves as an advisor to GTS on architecture for technology solutions, providing technical leadership across the organization, from top-line decision making down to the project planning level.
Required Skills :
- Excellent communication skills for both executive and technical audiences
- Demonstrable track record in delivering world class architecture capabilities in a complex, international organization of relevant scale and complexity
- Comfortable driving successful delivery through a large, geographically disparate team comprised of internal employees
- Proven experience with architecture of the large-scale global technology landscapes
- Experience with one or more Enterprise Architecture Frameworks and Methodologies (TOGAF, ITIL, Zachman, etc.)
- Experience with Application Portfolio Management tools and frameworks
- Experience with Architecting and developing cloud application solutions
- Experience with Technology Risk management frameworks
- Experience in one or more Enterprise Architecture Domains : Data, Integration, Business Process Management, Custom Application Development, COTS and Cloud Platforms, Global Networking, etc.
- Good knowledge of IT and Business Processes
- An ability to grasp, store, structure, and analyze varied sources of information to solve unplanned or foreseeable problems in enterprise landscapes
- An awareness of industry-relevant technologies and the competence to demonstrate, in clear terms, how a proposed service would impact a company
Certificates / Training :
- One of the Enterprise Architecture Frameworks and Methodologies Certificate (TOGAF, ITIL, Zachman, etc.)
- LeanIX Practitioner Certification (optional - could be obtained during onboarding)
Experience : Level I
Level I
- 3+ years in IT or enterprise architecture related role
- 2+ years architecture and design experience with platform implementations across Business, Application, Data, and Platform architecture
Level II
- 5+ years in IT or enterprise architecture related role
- 3+ years architecture and design experience with platform implementations across Business, Application, Data, and Platform architecture
Level III
- 10+ years in IT or enterprise architecture related role
- 7+ years architecture and design experience with platform implementations across Business, Application, Data, and Platform architecture
Detailed Responsibilities / Duties :
- Leads assigned area of the EA operational model
- Ensures the assigned area of the EA operational model is aligned with overall EA priorities and strategies
- Partners with other groups in EA department to understand process improvement needs and translate these into actions and / or projects and / or solutions.
- Identifies areas where EA Processes can be improved and influences EA leadership by defining the benefits, and manages the improvements
- Works closely with other EA functions to cohesive operations and reduces frictions
- Escalates and follows through on issues identified in unit teams
- Creates an environment that enhances collaboration, ensuring positive and productive working relationships are developed and maintained across the service ecosystem.
- Participates in strategic planning
- Establishes strong relationships with stakeholders
- Performs additional duties as assigned
- Develops and contributes to complex documentation, analytics and diagrams as required.
Level I
- Develops reference architecture to set technical standards for applications and infrastructure
- Creates business architecture models to support business needs
- Drive creation and validation of non-functional requirements concerning items such as consistency, performance, security, resiliency etc.
- Maintains repository of reference architecture blueprints
- Conducts periodic implementation review to examine whether solutions align with reference / blueprint architecture and suggest remediation / correction actions
Level II
- In addition to L1 activities :
- Evaluates and pilots new and emerging technologies
- Contributes to the development of business cases and participates in new programs / project estimations
- Ensures technology solutions meet all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility, etc.
- Participates in and contributes to verification, validation, and critical design reviews.
- Identifies and communicates optimization and consolidation of technology landscape within GTS
- Educates technology teams on designing scalable, secure, and stable applications
Level III
- In addition to L2 activities :
- Leads discussions on future trends, methodologies, and processes of platform architecture throughout the enterprise.
- Establishes best practices, processes, and standards in platform architecture
- Leads in establishing software principles, blueprints, and standards.
- Provides insight on design, implementation, and support of a multi-platform infrastructure.
Leads creation of review material for presentation to architecture review board (ARB) as required
