Program Manager

The Program Manager will assist the Associate Director of the Global Studies Center in managing all phases of a variety of short and long-term special projects for the Center, an administrative / academic department.

Provide leadership and direction for day-to-day project operations and administrative activities. Contribute to the planning, design, development and implementation of project objectives, procedures, processes standards and assessment.

  • Under general supervision the program manager for special projects which include the Pittsburgh Network for Threatened Scholars, The Governor's School for Global and International Studies, and the Global Studies Consortium, initiates projects with internal and external constituents;
  • determines marketing plans to increase student and faculty participation; receives incoming projects and requirements; interprets needs and estimates timeline;
  • collaborates with colleagues from other centers around the University, identifies training programs for visiting scholars;
  • prioritizes multiple projects to meet deadlines; oversees the management and development of high-quality print / web based and / or materials and graphics ;
  • collaborates on fundraising efforts for the Center; coordinates and oversees the management of project data for the maintenance of database record keeping systems that allows for the efficient collection and retrieval of information including related reports;

edits program documents submitted for grants and awards; provides project assistance to other colleagues as requested.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration or other related field.
  • Five years of experience with an emphasis on project management. Experience with working with a diverse work force.
  • Expertise in use of office technology, including the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); web maintenance; professional writing .

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based

environment.

Job Summary

Manages a variety of special projects related to after-school programs and administrative functions to develop effective programs and services.

Coordinates public relations initiatives, contracts, and research activities in conjunction with external stakeholders. Assists with policy implementation, establishing goals and objectives, and budgetary functions.

Crafts articles for publication and promotion and analyzes grant proposals and research projects.

Essential Functions

  • Manages and coordinates a variety of special projects related to after-school programs and administrative activities involving strategic planning, analysis, and the development of programs and services.
  • Plans and coordinates public relations initiatives, international program development, contractual agreements, and research activities with school districts, educators, and community members.
  • Develops and maintains personal contact with prospective donors to promote their interest in the organization and to provide information concerning the utilization of funds;

participates and coordinates fundraising and donation efforts for the organization.

  • Assists with establishing and implementing policies and procedures across programs; assists with establishing goals and objectives for programs and new initiatives.
  • Prepares articles or collaborates with others to prepare articles for journals, newsletters, and promotional publications.
  • Reviews and analyzes grant proposals and research projects as directed; participates in research projects to include obtaining internal review board approvals, analyzing data, and preparing research publications.
  • Assists in determining fiscal requirements and preparing budgetary recommendations.
  • Represents the organization at meetings and conferences.

Physical Effort

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
