Overview
The Chicago Office is seeking a Legal Assistant to work closely with the attorneys, paralegals, and the business and legal professionals of the Labor & Employment Group to assist with Immigration work and provide support for other projects and matters.
Responsibilities
- Support attorneys and legal professionals in connection with all aspects of Immigration case management.
- Assist attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals with preparing, proofreading, revising, and finalizing legal documents.
- Maintain confidential information, files, records, reports and other materials.
- Submit intake and conflicts checks and process time entry.
- Maintain attorneys' calendars, schedule travel and expense reimbursements, appointments, meetings and conferences.
- Time entry, engagement letters, opening new matters, paying invoices and filing fees, expense reimbursements, and maintaining attorney CLE records; filing immigration applications.
- Assist in file preparation (e.g., H-1B approval letters and withdrawal requests, PERM recruitment, PERM applications);
- Assist with preparation of petitions / applications under supervision of a paralegal;
- Administer the case management system database (updating records, uploading documents, processing notices and running reports).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 2-5 years of labor / immigration law experience preferred.Strong organizational skills.Strong technology skills and experience with Microsoft Office / Outlook / Adobe Professional; willingness to learn additional programs.Highly motivated and a self-starter.High level of attention to detail with excellent grammar and spelling skills.Strong ability to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks simultaneously.Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.Skilled with the use of electronic document management systems.Quarles & Brady offers competitive salaries, bonus and great benefits to employees including paid time off, health, vision, dental, 401k, life, disability and much more. Compensation is determined upon the market in which the position is located, the responsibilities of the position, the experience, education and skills of the applicant, and other job-related factors. The range for individuals located in Chicago is $26.97 – $44.53.
