The Peabody Library seeks a dynamic and innovative professional to join our team as the Teaching, Learning & Curriculum Librarian.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the academic success of our diverse student body by enhancing information literacy, supporting curriculum development, and fostering a culture of active learning within the library.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Information Literacy Instruction : Develop and deliver engaging information literacy instruction sessions in-person and virtually to enhance students' research skills and critical thinking abilities.
- Curriculum Integration : Collaborate with faculty to integrate library resources and services into the curriculum, ensuring alignment with academic goals and enhancing the learning experience.
- Collection Development : Work closely with subject liaisons to assess and build collections supporting evolving teaching and learning needs across various disciplines.
- Assessment : Implement and assess instructional programs and services, utilizing data-driven insights to continuously improve the effectiveness of library instruction and support services.
- Technology Integration : Explore and implement innovative technologies to enhance teaching and learning initiatives, including developing online tutorials, research guides, and other instructional materials.
- Faculty Collaboration : Partner with faculty to design and deliver professional development opportunities for information literacy, educational technology, and library resources.
- Research Support : Provide research assistance to students and faculty, fostering a research-rich environment that aligns with the institution's academic mission.
Supervisory Relationships :
This position does have supervisory responsibility over one or more student workers. This position reports administratively and functionally to the Director, Peabody Library.
Qualifications
- A demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in teams is required.
- An ability to evaluate and assess instruction and outreach is required.
- An ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment is required.
- An awareness of educational trends, diverse voices, and educational resources is required.
- Proactive interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- Familiarity with teaching information and digital literacy skills on a college campus is required.
- Knowledge and / or interest in using emerging technologies to enhance the delivery of research instruction & information services is required.
- A Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or K-12 Education OR a background experience in education or K-12 school libraries is preferred.
- Experience with curriculum materials, children's and youth literature, or K-12 teaching is preferred.
- Additional educational background experience in education, i.e. reading / literacy, language learning, educational technology, etc., is preferred.
- Experience with online learning platforms and / or creating digital tutorials, videos, and research guides is preferred.
- Familiarity with using social media to promote library outreach is preferred.

- An active membership in professional organizations is preferred.
- Knowledge or experience teaching undergraduate through graduate level students is preferred.
- Experience supporting current research practices, open access, research impact, data visualization, digital scholarship, etc. is preferred.
