Position Summary

The Climate Finance Campaign Manager will develop and implement actionable plans based on the campaign strategy and be the organizational subject matter expert for climate finance.

They will work closely within the Campaigns team, and closely with the Global Campaigns Director, and the Campaigns and Field SVP to integrate climate finance into the broader work of the organization and ensure we are accurately measuring our impact and telling our story.

The Campaign Manager will stay up to date on the latest research, trends, and areas of focus for climate finance, providing trainings, briefings, and guidance to internal audiences on a regular basis.

They will hold relationships with coalition partners and funders, and work closely with the Field, Partnerships, Trainings and Events, and Climate and Environmental Justices teams to further cultivate, support, engage, and activate external partners, funders, Climate Reality Branches, Chapters, Leaders, volunteers, and communities on how to finance a just transition to clean, renewable energy.

Currently reporting to the Campaigns and Field SVP, the Climate Finance Campaign Manager will be a part of the Campaigns team but will not manage staff.

This is a full time, exempt, benefits-eligible, hybrid position. The Climate Reality Project offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with staff working from our office in downtown Washington, DC at least two days per week to enable and encourage collaboration within and among teams.

The salary for the role is $85,000 USD per year.

Duties and Responsibilities

General

  • Finalize, socialize overall strategy and theory of change with guidance from Campaigns and Field SVP, and develop and steward concrete implementation plans for climate finance global campaign
  • Serve as organization’s subject matter expert on climate finance and related policies, research, trends, and areas of focus, regularly providing trainings and briefings to raise internal understanding and external profile of the organization’s work on this campaign
  • Partner with Advancement department to identify, cultivate, secure funding, and as appropriate, manage relationship with finance-related funders.
  • Report on areas of impact across the organization, as well as with Branches and Chapters related to climate finance, and lead gathering, evaluation, and analysis of impact.

Utilize this information to produce outcomes and compliance reports in accordance with grant and organizational requirements on time sensitive deadlines

  • Coordinate with Training and Events team to support training content and with the Science, Solutions, and Policy Team to determine strategic policy actions that our Branches, Chapters, Climate Leaders, and volunteers can take to help action related to the campaign
  • Build and maintain relationships with climate finance coalition partners, coordinating closely with Climate and Environmental Justice and Partnerships teams to maximize organizational and community engagement
  • Engage with the Digital, Creative, and Reality Hub teams to create press releases, blogs, social and earned media, and other communication materials to enhance public awareness on the importance of climate finance in solving the crisis
  • Proactively work with the Science, Solutions, and Policy team to ensure that all campaign materials are rooted in a concrete understanding of international climate finance’s role in solving the climate crisis and in support of a just transition
  • Support and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our operations and enrichment of our culture, for example by serving on ad hoc or ongoing work groups, assisting with the onboarding and training of colleagues, and participating in efforts to assess, refine, and strengthen our culture and practices
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Detailed knowledge of a broad range of campaign strategies and tactics, with proven ability to translate strategy into actionable campaign plans
  • Proven track record with coalition building, engagement, grassroots or field organizing in North America and at least one additional global region
  • Project management acumen, including ability to coordinate across multiple departments, stay on top of several projects, plan backwards, and anticipate obstacles and opportunities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort with public speaking
  • Demonstrable strategic thinker and possess problem-solving acumen
  • Personal commitment to Climate Reality’s mission and demonstrated knowledge of climate, civil rights and environmental issues
  • Ability to work under short deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Professional proficiency in a language in addition to English highly desired
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer required

Education and Experience

  • Has between 3-5 years of relevant experience in climate finance
  • Experience and awareness of cultural diversity with a lens on equity and justice and possess the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of organizations, coalitions, and volunteers
  • Experience designing and implementing strategic campaigns to encourage action and change policy and / or behavior toward environmental, climate justice and / or climate finance
  • Experience working with funders, including grant writing and impact reporting highly desired
