POSITION PURPOSE : The Operator / Mechanic will monitor and operate equipment and facilities, including field equipment, ensuring quality and conformance with standard operating procedures.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining safety standards at all times and initiating and following emergency procedures when necessary.

The Operator / Mechanic will perform basic maintenance repairs and upkeep on area equipment. Job tasks are performed in control room, lab areas, and throughout various operations of the site.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Start up and shut down (normal and emergency) plant systems and components.
  • Operate, monitor and control plant systems; visually inspect, monitor equipment and process conditions.
  • Maintenance activities, as qualified.
  • Analyzes charts and logs to identify potential or actual problems.
  • Troubleshoots equipment to restore to operation.
  • Laboratory procedures and lad safety.
  • Loading operations and identify potential or actual problems.

All applicants must successfully complete onsite assessments to be considered for this role. Job relocation and travel assistance for assessment will not be offered.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Willing and able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including overtime, nights, weekends, holidays and short notice call-in if required.
  • Willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing and able to work in a High Hazard environment; outdoors, indoors, elevated heights and confined spaces.
  • Willing and able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toes, hardhats, protective eyewear, face shields, respirator, chemical acid suit, etc.
  • Willing and able to climb stairs, ladders; stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl; visual acuity for close work; able to reach overhead;

able to hear and respond to alarms

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

  • High School Diploma / GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Experience maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting industrial equipment / machinery.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Ability to navigate the tools of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. and learn new computer systems and software applications.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

Current and valid driver's license.

The following skill sets are preferred by the site :

  • 2 years degree or 60 college credit hours in applied sciences / engineering fields.
  • High hazard / chemical operations experience,
  • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics, procedures, manufacturer's literature, safety requirements, general instructions.
  • Learn and detect process variations.
  • Experience operating fork trucks.
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent manufacturing operations software.
