Job description

Overview

LHH is looking for a Private Funds and Investment Management Paralegal for a law firm in Chicago.

Location : Chicago, IL (Hybrid 3 days onsite / 2 remote after 90 days)

Employment type : Temp to Hire

Remote : Open to fully remote candidates

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in fund formation and entity organization
  • Manage investor onboarding and closings
  • Prepare and file regulatory documents (Form D, ADV, Blue Sky, FATCA / CRS)
  • Maintain fund databases and corporate records
  • Coordinate with fund administrators, auditors, and consultants
  • Conduct legal research (securities / funds regulations)
  • Support fund operations (amendments, communications, dissolution)
  • Ensure proper execution and documentation storage

Candidate Requirements

  • Must have prior funds experience
  • Open to candidates from :
  • Traditional law firms
  • JD, LLM, current (possibly part-time) law students

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Paralegal Certificate preferred)
  • 3+ years in private funds, investment management, or corporate law
  • Strong understanding of fund structures securities regulations
  • Highly organized with strong problem-solving skills
  • Tech-savvy : Proficient in Microsoft Office, legal research tools, NetDocs, SharePoint
  • Works independently and collaboratively

    • Preferred Skills

  • Experience with investor portals and fund management platforms
  • Familiarity with SEC, CFTC , and state securities regulations
  • Comfort working with institutional investors and complex fund structures

    • Compensation and Benefits

    $35-50 / hr

    Benefits may include PTO, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, voluntary benefits, EAP, commuter benefits, wellness plans, and a 401k or non-qualified deferred compensation plan. Eligible for paid leave where required by law and Holiday pay where applicable. Bonus eligibility and amount are based upon company and / or individual performance.
