REPORTS TO : Child Development Center Director
Job Summary : Responsible for maintaining the classroom climate to promote learning, creativity, and growth of the children.
Works under the direction of the Director of the Childcare Development Center.
Essential Job Functions :
- Plans and implements a daily schedule and weekly lesson plans.
- Assesses each child’s developmental needs.
- Supervises children in age-appropriate activities.
- Keeps developmental and growth records on each child.
- Keeps supplies and classroom neat and orderly.
- Arranges classroom attractively to encourage involvement, experimentation, and creativity by the children.
- Sets rules for the classroom.
- Offers praise and acceptance to all children.
- Checks and plans for the safety of the children in the building and on the playground.
- Knows and follows all Texas Department of Family and Protective Services standard rules.
- Reports to the Director any problem which may occur with the children before talking to the parents.
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
- Maintain current certification in Infant / Child First Aid and CPR.
- Maintain the required level of training hours with required documentation.
- Complete, in a timely manner, all training required by the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
- Performs additional program duties as assigned by the Director according to the School’s needs.

Mental / Physical Demands :
- Required to lift 40 lbs. and carry supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment.
- Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger.
- Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis.
- Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading.
- Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather.
Requirements
Qualifications :
- Must be 18 years or older, high school diploma or GED required.
- Meet the requirements for a caregiver, as outlined in The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services’ Minimum Standard Rules for childcare centers.
- Current certification in Infant / Child First Aid and CPR.
- Ability to relate to children in a positive manner.
- Knowledgeable about the needs of young children.
- Ability to communicate in a positive way with parents.
- Experience in childcare preferred
