Job Summary
Under the direction of the Asst. Vice Chancellor of Leadership Communications, this position is responsible for overseeing one or more USG social media accounts.
Responsibilities
- Create content, manage and track social media posts by USG social media accounts, as well as external stakeholders.
- Develop / implement USG's social media engagement strategy including consistent posts and events.
- Create and maintain USG social media accounts.
- Respond to comments, questions, and concerns expressed by channel / platform visitors.
- Coordinate with other communication professionals on marketing and branding strategies.
- Track social media outreach and effectiveness through analytical tools.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism or another related field;
- A minimum of 3 years experience as a communications professional or an equivalent combination of education, training and related job experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience with social media tools, digital marketing and communications platforms.
- Experience in developing and executing creative marketing strategies.
- Experience in communications, marketing and social media communications, or in a related area (including training and experience in writing for the Web using search engine optimization techniques).
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures associated with developing content for the web.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to respond diplomatically to sensitive and critical issues.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively multi-task.
- Ability to work confidentially with sensitive information.
- Knowledge of marketing and communication principles.
- Knowledge of document layout principles.
- Knowledge of social media communications principles.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Knowledge of photography, videography and video editing techniques.
- Knowledge of AP Style.
- Skill in writing for multiple platforms, including video scripts.
- Skill in developing and implementing communications and marketing strategies.
- Skill in collecting, compiling, and reporting on data.
- Skill in decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in teamwork and collaboration.
Conditions of Employment
If this position has been approved to work remotely to any extent, the selected candidate will be required to complete and submit a USO Telework Agreement to their manager no later than the end of hi / her first week of employment.
