Summary

Weitz & Luxenberg, one of the nation’s top mass tort and products liability law firm, located in New York City, is looking for a talented attorney to be part of our collegial team dedicated to Personal Injury.

The attorney will represent plaintiffs and should have 3-5 years of experience handling caseloads from inception through trial.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of personal injury cases from initiation through resolution, including conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents;
  • Conduct depositions, attend court hearings, and represent clients in mediation and arbitration proceedings;
  • Collaborate with the team to develop effective legal strategies and provide sound legal advice to clients;
  • Communicate with clients, expert witnesses, insurance company adjusters, supporting witnesses, and medical providers to gather information;
  • Negotiate suitable agreements and settle on the clients’ behalf when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience handling plaintiffs' personal injury matters, with a focus on New York law;
  • Experience with medical malpractice cases is preferred;
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school;
  • Active license to practice law in New York State;
  • Proficient litigation skills, including experience with drafting legal documents, conducting depositions, and courtroom appearances;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment;
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

The annualized salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000. The referenced salary range is based on the Firms good faith belief at the time of posting.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education / training and skill level.
