Description

Under the direction of the Residential Services Site Manager, the Residential Monitor will have the responsibilities of being the direct caregiver for client's and assist clients with basic needs while being a positive adult role model, actively supervising clients, and ensuring completion of assigned duties / chores, assist with client activities in the building and in the community, maintaining key control, communicating problematic situations to supervisors, assist with dispensing medications, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• HSD or GED is required. (HSD / GED / A.S.-Residential Monitor I); (B.S. / M.S.-Residential Monitor II)
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with at risk youth in state custody, juvenile justice, detention, or corrective environment is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include any supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions

• Actively supervises resident activities at all times to include enforcing rules and policies, provides support for behavior management and ensuring completion of assigned chores.
• Reports and documents all problematic situations regarding particular clients or shelter operations to supervisory staff.

Mediates interpersonal problems between residents in order to de-escalate situations.

• Observes residents to detect unusual behavior and provide immediate report to appropriate persons.
• Communicates with other staff to resolve problems with individual residents.
• Collaborates with counselors to develop counseling programs that address the needs of individuals.
• Makes regular rounds to ensure that residents and areas are safe and secure.
• Assists with client activities in the facility and in the community by participating in and supervising activities.
• Provides daily transportation to / from school and as needed.
• Shift responsibility for dispensing and monitoring hygiene supplies and medication under supervision.
• Provides emergency first aid and summons medical assistance when necessary.
• Assures proper client nutrition to include preparing and distributing food.
• Assists with special projects as assigned.
• Maintains cleanliness of work areas, including staff office and the kitchen.
• Performs duties as a role model to clients and staff.
• Completes all documentation accurately prior to shift change.
• Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to remain stationary as well as move about the unit in order to aid, supervise, and escort residents during their daily activities.

The employee must be able to physically restrain youth to ensure the safety of others. The employee must be able to distinguish colors and see up-close.

Employees work in a non-smoking environment.

Special Conditions

Maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record with appropriate level of insurance. All PRN employee are required to work a minimum of 5 shifts a month depending on the needs of the Agency.
