Position Summary :

The Planner is responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient flow of materials necessary for the manufacturing process.

This role involves planning, scheduling, and coordinating material requirements and inventory levels to support production schedules in a Just-in-Time environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and maintain production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations while meeting customer delivery requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate the procurement of materials, ensuring optimal inventory levels to support JIT manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to manage lead times, delivery schedules, and order quantities to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory levels, identifying potential shortages or excesses, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Generate and maintain accurate material requirement planning (MRP) data to support production schedules.
  • Communicate and coordinate with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to align material availability with production demands.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control systems to minimize waste, reduce costs, and optimize material flow.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the materials planning and scheduling functions.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to review production schedules, address material issues, and ensure alignment with overall business goals.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on material planning, inventory levels, and production status to management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to materials planning and scheduling.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Materials Planner / Scheduler in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the protective gear, law enforcement, or military sectors.
  • Strong understanding of Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing principles and inventory management techniques.
  • Proficient in using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other relevant software tools.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices is a plus.

Work Environment :

  • The position is primarily based in a manufacturing environment and may require occasional travel to supplier locations or other company facilities.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sitting for long periods. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of items weighing up to (25) twenty-five pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials.

Moving from place to place within the office; minimum reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
