The Assistant Branch Manager, working closely with the Branch Manager, assists in managing a full-service retail bank branch while also positively influencing the branch by expanding and developing personal and small business banking relationships.
This includes assisting in the administration and efficient daily operation of the retail bank branch, relationship management, security, and managing assigned staff to ensure customers receive service beyond expectations while also ensuring that staff operates in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Essential Functions
- Assists in management of employees, organization and direction of activities. Maximizes branch operations, leads by example and provides high level of quality customer service.
- Oversees organization and execution of branch relationship sales management, operations and service processes and procedures to maximize customer service;
staff productivity, and operational efficiencies.
- Ensures compliance with bank regulations, requirements, and procedures.
- Develops and manages profitable, multi-product relationships with individuals, small businesses, and small business management teams.
- Calls on prospective and existing customers to develop professional relationships; solicit new business.
- Monitors proactive relationship banking activities and campaigns for self and staff.
- Achieves and / or exceeds established branch performance and personal production goals; ensures that staff members meet established personal and production goals.
- Assists with managing cost effectiveness of the branch; maximizes profitability.
- Supports Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) through business development efforts; in conjunction with Branch Manager, educates branch staff on CRA requirements including documentation.
- Assists with oversight of cross-selling efforts of branch operations staff; facilitates staff referrals of bank products and services.
- May prepare operational and financial reports, as well as general correspondence within required timeframes.
- Approves customer overdrafts and other transactions in accordance with established authority levels / limits.
- Assists with staff training and development; coaches employees in appropriated operational practices and methods.
- Receives and resolves routine and / or difficult customer issues and inquiries.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent required; Associates degree or higher preferred.
- 2 or more years of progressive, relevant experience including performing teller transactions as well as account opening and servicing in a bank or credit union branch setting.
Previous lead or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Federal Reserve and other regulatory guidelines and operating procedures as well as general bank operations related to the servicing of checking accounts, ATMs, and other bank services.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to direct, lead, and motivate others in a team environment.
- Excellent judgement and decision-making skills with the ability to effectively resolve escalated customer and staff concerns.
- Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as custom applications and systems.
- Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Must be self-motivated with strong initiative, accountability, and attention to detail.
