As the Electrical Engineer , you will
Apply engineering principles to design and support the installation of CenterPoint Energy HVM (High Voltage Metering) systems in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
These systems provide for accurate billing of large industrial customer retail loads and of grid-scale resource interconnections, including solar / wind / other renewable generation and energy storage technologies, necessary for the growing energy needs of the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric system and the Texas / ERCOT electric energy market.
Specifically, you’ll have the opportunity to :
- Perform engineering design, calculations, estimates, studies, and coordination of HVM facilities installation.
- Analyze metering system compliance with CenterPoint Energy, ERCOT, PUCT, and other applicable requirements.
- Produce ERCOT documentation including EPS (ERCOT-Polled Settlement) Metering Design Proposals in compliance with ERCOT Nodal Protocols.
- Oversee, schedule, and indirectly supervise operational worksite activities including follow-up compliance documentation.
- Create engineering drawings and effectively communicate design details to field personnel and contractors.
- Create and maintain critical contacts to assure that materials, supplies, and information are available, and that information is exchanged with external / internal sources, agencies, suppliers, customers, and utilities for successful project results.
- Review completed work orders and cost data to assure conformance with plans and acceptability of construction charges.
- Oversee, track, evaluate, and report the resolution of meter system events.
Basic Qualifications :
Education
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited college or university.
Experience : See individual Engineer levels
Associate Engineer
Entry Level
Engineer
Requires a minimum of two years electric utility or power engineering experience that includes performing engineering calculations and design.
Senior Engineer
Requires a minimum of 5 years of electric utility or power engineering experience that includes performing engineering calculations and design.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit of a PE license in the State of Texas.
