To ensure accurate coding and billing for emergency department and outpatient encounters, the full-time remote Certified Coding Specialist will code, abstract, and conduct charge quality reviews while maintaining high standards of coding integrity and compliance with guidelines. Key responsibilities Code and abstract all episodes of care while analyzing documentation for accuracy and resolving discrepancies Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes according to CMS requirements and assist in training other coders Maintain a 95% accuracy rate on quality reviews and productivity standards while updating patient databases with classification codes Required qualifications High school diploma and completion of an approved coding program or a graduate of a Health Information Management program Two years of coding experience in an acute care setting or diverse clinical specialties Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or equivalent from recognized organizations Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and related coding guidelines Proficiency in coding software applications, with preference for experience in Epic EHR and 3M 360 coding software
