Product Design Director, Enterprise Risk Management

Overview

We’re currently seeking a Product Design Director to lead the Enterprise Risk Management and Operations Risk Management portfolio, part of the Risk and Audit Design team within Capital One’s Experience Design organization. The ERM & ORM portfolio focuses on governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) systems and risk assessments modernization, with cross-functional collaboration across Capital One’s Risk business partners, product owners, managers, and engineering partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead a cross-disciplinary design team of eight to 10+ designers, collaborating closely with research, Product, and Tech leadership.
• Define and drive design strategy that informs the organization’s higher-level vision and aligns with business objectives.
• Provide people leadership : build and lead agile, professional design teams; mentor and integrate design with business partners from inception to delivery.
• Drive a strategic vision that extends beyond current work and sustains effective cross-functional partnerships for the future of design at Capital One.
• Own and facilitate product design excellence across interaction, visual, and service design; oversee tools, platforms, design systems, and artifacts such as vision stories, journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes.
• Champion human-centered design by balancing customer and partner voices to exceed baseline needs and expectations.
• Apply business acumen to shape how design engages with products, processes, customers, competitors, and industry trends.
• Foster collaboration across teams, portfolios, platforms, and lines of business to accelerate delivery and elevate design value.
• Communicate design work effectively to senior stakeholders, integrating design frameworks, data, and research insights.

Salary and Location

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated. Salaries reflect the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of posting and may vary by location.

Candidates hired in other locations will be paid according to the applicable location’s pay range. This role may be eligible for incentives (cash bonuses and / or long-term incentives) as per plan details.
