About Contreras Edin Law, P.A. Founded in 2009, Contreras Edin Law, P.A. is a Twin Cities law firm focused on Immigration, Family Law, and Criminal Defense. Our immigration team handles a wide range of complex matters, including family-based immigration, citizenship and naturalization, humanitarian relief, deportation and removal defense, appeals, and employment‑based immigration. Immigration Law Clerk Position We are looking for an Immigration Law Clerk to join our team and provide legal, research, drafting, and case‑management support to our attorneys and clients. What You’ll Do As an Immigration Law Clerk, you will work closely with attorneys and legal staff on immigration matters while gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced legal environment. Key responsibilities include: Conduct legal research involving immigration laws, regulations, court decisions, agency guidance, and case‑specific legal issues. Draft legal memoranda, case summaries, statements of issues, and other legal documents. Assist attorneys with drafting and reviewing petitions, motions, pleadings, briefs, and supporting documentation. Review case filings and supporting evidence for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Proofread legal documents, citations, correspondence, and filings. Monitor changes in immigration law, regulations, policies, and procedures that may affect active cases. Assist with case preparation and provide support for court proceedings and hearings when needed. Review case deadlines, dockets, and pending matters to help ensure cases continue progressing appropriately. Communicate with attorneys, paralegals, court personnel, and other staff regarding filings, case status, records, and procedural requirements. Maintain accurate information in calendars, filing systems, and case‑management software. Organize and verify case files and supporting documentation to ensure materials are complete and properly maintained. What We’re Looking For We are seeking someone who is: Detail‑oriented and organized Comfortable conducting legal research and analyzing complex information A strong writer with excellent proofreading skills Able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities Professional and effective when communicating with clients, attorneys, and court personnel Interested in developing practical experience in immigration law Able to work collaboratively in a team environment Education & Experience A Bachelor’s degree or professional‑level degree in a related field is preferred. Advanced legal education, including an LL.M., and previous immigration or legal experience are a plus. This is an entry‑level Law Clerk position and does not require attorney licensure. The Immigration Law Clerk does not independently represent clients or provide legal advice. Schedule This is a full‑time, in‑person position requiring 40 hours per week. Our office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Scheduling flexibility may be available around school schedules and should be communicated each semester. Travel Some local travel may be required. Candidates should have reliable transportation, whether through a personal vehicle or public transportation.
