Description

Responsible for front desk operations patient scheduling & registration, insurance / eligibility verifications, reminder calls, check in / out, collection of payments, and coverage of phone / fax lines.

  • Serve as first point of contact for patients, visitors, staff, students and faculty.
  • Answers questions and resolves moderate customer service concerns and refers more difficult issues to manager; adheres to department guidelines on referring patients / visitors to the appropriate area.
  • Provides excellent customer and patient services support by setting appointments and providing phone coverage.
  • Answers telephone and directs calls to the appropriate staff and relays pertinent information.
  • Communicates with customers in a courteous, professional, cooperative and mature manner.
  • Retrieves and files medical records, enters / updates patient information, and ensures patients documents are scanned into the electronic systems.
  • Identifies payer source, verifies insurance eligibility, financial status and assigns correct pay type.
  • Assists patients with check-in process; checks out patients using electronic medical records system including inputting data, posting charges / payments, and searching and retrieving data.
  • Faxes, copies and distributes medical record information for doctors and patients.

Ensures confidentiality of all medical records and patient information. Works as part of a team with all clinic staff including management, nursing, and medical personnel.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school and 3 years experience

Education : Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc.

as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. Experience : Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

Certification / Licensing : None

Experience in the Optometric industry preferred.
