General Responsibilities Include :
- Create strategic business plans based on comprehensive knowledge of market position, pricing and rate structures, sales strategies, yield management, booking trends, and future hotel planning.
- Manage department and achieve budgeted revenues and expenses while maximizing profitability.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts with prospective clients.
- Develop, implement and manage the annual business and strategic marketing plans.
- Develop the yearly Sales and Marketing Budget
- Develop forecasts and other reports, as required; develop rates that maximize profitability.
- Implement group ceilings and strategies through thorough review of Competitive Set data.
- Prepare the annual rooms revenue and departmental budgets.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, as required; demand analyses and mix management.
- Regularly evaluate future or advanced performance or process issues relating to group booking pace, backlog, reservations pace, rate yielding or conversion in an effort to identify any future revenue and performance shortfalls and upside opportunities.
- Actively lead and / or participate in regular Revenue, Marketing and Public Relations meetings.
- Conduct on-site tours with prospective clients and future incoming guests.
- Assist in the recruitment & selection, training & development, and effective performance management of Sales & Catering staff.
- Conduct regular one-on-one and team meetings with the Sales & Catering Staff.
- Communicate progress, obstacles and promotions with the Executive Committee to ensure full alignment.
- Regularly evaluate future or advanced performance or process issues relating to group booking pace, backlog, reservations pace, rate yielding or conversion in an effort to identify any future revenue and performance shortfalls and upside opportunities.
- Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within the market and ensure members the Sales Team are held accountable for their respective accounts.
- Schedule and / or attend effective sales trips, trade shows and appointments within assigned markets.
- Additional duties, as assigned.
Skills / Knowledge Required :
- Demonstrated ability to work with maximum accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail, maintaining a keen sense of urgency at all times.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Chicago market, with an aptitude for knowing how to position the hotel against its Competitive Set.
- Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional service, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Outstanding ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and openly in all interactions, both verbal and written.
- Keen negotiation, decision-making, problem-solving skills
- Ability to exercise sound logic and judgment in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and natural skill for multi-tasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be able to show initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity.
- Technologically savvy, possessing a strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office software
- Proficiency in Delphi and Opera Property Management System an asset.
- Maintains flexible schedule to meet the business needs of a 24 / 7 hotel environment, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
Qualification Standards :
Education : Bachelor's Degree, ideally in Sales & Marketing, Hotel Management, or Business Administration preferred.
Experience : Minimum of 5 years progressive leadership experience in Sales and Marketing capacity, preferably in a boutique luxury hotel environment.
Minimum of 2 years Director of Sales experience.
