Performing Arts Product Development Manager
Location : 14460 Varsity Brands Way, Farmers Branch, TX 75244, willing to consider a remote candidate located in Texas or Tennessee
The Performing Arts Product Development Manager is an important member of our Experience team, and will ultimately be responsible for the planning, refinement, and growth of performing arts-centric events across Varsity Spirit’s full portfolio of competition offerings, with a focus on athletic / spirit band event formats (including Game Day Live),special events, and camps.
This person should be goal oriented, organized, personable, customer centric, and passionate about driving higher participation in the performing arts through expanded events opportunities.
The position reports directly to the Director of Strategy and Transformation with responsibilities to the Vice President of Training and Education.
This position will have some travel expectations, typically involving internal meetings, industry conferences and tradeshows, and Varsity Spirit events.
What you will do :
Partner with internal colleagues and external partners to create and refine performing arts event types with a focus on school spirit
Collaborate with internal and external teams to : Create the overall growth strategy for the event formats (e.g., where across our national and regional event portfolio to offer the formats, how many to add each year, etc.
Determine how best to promote the formats (e.g., social media marketing, attendance at tradeshows, etc.).
Refine the formats based on feedback from customers, consumers, and internal stakeholders
Understand per-event economics for newly-proposed event additions
Serve as the initial point of contact for all event-related customer needs
Stay constantly connected to customers to build trust and gather insight for the future
Serve as the event expert and build deep knowledge
Collaborate with others to maintain and grow event participation
Review Post-Event Surveys to follow up with any customer concerns
Assist with our Registration Specialist and Marketing Specialist with any event related communications and marketing needs
Assist with the marketing calendar for events and strategic promotions to support
growth
Responsible for the events listing and event information found on the website for assigned events
Collaborate closely with leadership to develop the event schedule
Create deliverables to communicate key details about events, including planning and logistical details, customer / consumer and partner feedback, and working plans to build and refine events
Serve in a high-level management and / or support role at events
What you bring :

Strong interpersonal skills to support efforts to conduct market research with partners, customers, etc. and synthesize findings

Ability to set priorities and communicate highest priorities to key stakeholders Ability to proactively communicate deadlines and meet them
What you need :
Bachelors degree required; degree in music education or related field is a plus
Experience of at least 3 years in performing arts as an event manager / coordinator, educator, etc.
Prior experience as a band director or music educator is a plus
Physical Demands and / or Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While not participating in an event this job operates in a professional office environment. Largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
Ability to sit or stand for long periods through meetings and while operating office equipment, PC’s, laptop, telephone will be required.
During events the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time (5 hours plus) is required. The ability to communicate with customers and colleagues using the following but not limited to radio, walkie talkie, text message and email is required.
Travel
While travel demand will be variable, it is expected to range from 5% to 15% of the time, and travel expectations will be aligned on with the role’s supervisor with sufficient advance notice.
Event travel and attendance at staff meetings, tradeshows, and events is required. Event travel will include overnight stays for events.
Occasional travel to our Varsity Spirit headquarters in Memphis or our Varsity Brands headquarters in Dallas will be required for working sessions and team and partner meetings.
