RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up safe work zones with proper equipment.
- Maintain a Flagger Station by standing and controlling road users using hand signals with a STOP / SLOW Paddle
- May drive company vehicles to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites safely and in a timely manner.
May also pull lightweight trailered equipment.
- Effective radio communication with team members on work site
- Communicate with your crew to keep everyone safe.
- Control traffic flow.
- Providing outstanding service and protection to customers
- Receive continuous development and guidance.
- Protect the company’s employees, customers, and assets against losses, injuries, and accidents through enforcement of safe work practices.
- Develop relationships with internal and external customers to achieve goals and new business opportunities.
- Become a subject matter expert in work zone setup / design and professional flagging.
- Follow all company safety procedures and practices.
- Achieve organizational required training within timeframe established by Project Manager or Facility Manager
- Maintain job sites and equipment to ensure the highest quality set-ups and maintain The AWP Way.
- Be able to read and understand specific plans and instructions to exceed customer’s expectation.
- Be able to make field adjustments and corrections to make the project safe for the customer, municipality, motoring public and pedestrians going through the work zone.
- Notify Supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION
- Previous experience in an outdoor labor setting, i.e., Traffic Control, Landscaping, Manufacturing, Construction, Utilities, Military, or Skilled Operator
- 2+ Years Traffic Control Experience / ATSSA Certificate
- TMA Driver
- TCS Certification Preferred
- Familiarity with a client-based schedule
- Valid state driver's license
- Steel Toed or Composite Toed Boots
- Comfortable standing 8-12 hours a day
- Ability to lift 50-60 lbs.
- Accustomed to working in all types of weather, and in traffic.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening including a drug test

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must be able to successfully manage the physical demands of this position, which include the following :
- Hours of operation may vary based on staffing needs and workload.
- Typical workweek 50 hours
- Majority of time will be in the field.
- The position may work in outside conditions that include inclement weather, not limited to heat, cold, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving vehicles, and occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites.
- Noise levels in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
- Position may lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- If necessary, in the field, stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions;
employee lifts pushes, pulls, or carries objects.
