Presently our health system is at a historic high in census. Corewell Health is the largest health system in Michigan and also deemed a safety hospital for this community.
Being a safety hospital means we have a responsibility to the State of Michigan due to our size and level of care we can provide being the only Trauma level 1 in this area.
While the census continues to grow, we are not able to turn away patients for care despite our staff being stretched in order to handle this new growth.
In order to address our community needs, new units have been opened to care for the overflow of patients and due to this our internal and interim staff have been and will continue to be expected to support in our most urgent units as needed.
Please note that this is not new as our work order descriptions in Fieldglass do state "may need to travel to other units or campuses as needed".
We understand this is a dissatisfier to some of our agency staff we are doing our best to communicate any adjustments as early as possible as well as scheduling out as far as we are able on some of these urgent units.
