Greenwich Hospital , Yale New Haven Health’s newest level III trauma program, seeks a Critical Care RN to join our administrative team as a Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator (TPIC).
This role involves dynamic interaction with the interprofessional team responsible for trauma care at Greenwich Hospital.
The TPIC, through a comprehensive understanding of medical record review and data abstraction, is responsible for oversight of accurate data extraction and entry into the registry.
Together with the manager, is responsible for the selection of appropriate diagnosis, procedure, ISS and ICD codes, as well as timely and accurate execution of clinical case review, documentation and follow-up.
The Trauma Performance (PI) Coordinator is responsible for general programmatic operations and oversight of the adult trauma program under the direction of the Trauma Program Manager.
The Trauma PI Coordinator will assist the Trauma Program Manager to maintain the integrity of the Registries, generate queries and reports, and ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
The Trauma PI Coordinator will interface with the delivery networks of Yale New Haven Health System.

Responsibilities
Candidates should possess :
Minimum of 5-7 years of recent Critical Care nursing experience.3-5 years of experience working with complex systems such as triage or program development.
Trauma Program experience is preferred.Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.Ability to adapt to a wide variety of professional interactions.Excellent clinical judgement.

1. Program Performance : Participates in departmental strategies to ensure the successful provision of programs, reporting, and projects in support of the wellbeing of the trauma department and trauma program.
Demonstrates effective oversight of performance improvement processes, collaborating with the inter-professional team to provide high quality trauma care.
At regular intervals, conducts primary and secondary reviews of process measures, filters, and complications according to institutional guidelines established in compliance with regulatory oversight and governing bodies.
In collaboration with the trauma program leadership, prepares and / or presents tertiary reviews at trauma morbidity & mortality meetings;
including appropriate related peer review documents. In collaboration with trauma program leadership, prepares and / or presents monthly reports and appropriate tertiary reviews for the multidisciplinary QI and Trauma Operations meetings.
In collaboration with trauma program leadership, prepares and / or presents the necessary program support document and reports for trauma program verification.
2. Quality & Safety : Role models and supports excellence in professional practice to promote safe, high quality work product in the department to achieve superior outcomes.
Collaborates with the Clinical Manager and other healthcare professionals to determine the full extent of injuries and complications to address concerns regarding inaccurate data or data sources
3. Service Excellence : Role model YNHHS Standards of Professional Behavior, creating a great first impression' by demonstrating exemplary customer service skills for all customer service groups, including physicians, staff, and department support personnel.
Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to the adult trauma program to support a unified team in the care of the trauma patient
4. Professional Effectiveness : Accountable to ensure professional practice and clinical competence with the trauma department programs.
Maintains flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the Trauma Department and its programs
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five to seven years experience in Critical Care and or Emergency Nursing. Three to five years experience working with complex system issues such as triage or program development.
LICENSURE
Registered nurse with current license in the State of Connecticut
SPECIAL SKILLS
Excellent communication, negotiation and organizational skills. Excellent clinical judgment. Excellent knowledge of personal computers and related software.
Adaptability to a wide variety of professional interactions. Comprehensive understanding in the use of medical records for data abstraction.
Will be trained in the use of current ICD and injury systems coding.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
May require prolonged sitting. May require prolonged use of computer monitors. May require walking and transport between hospital, health system and university campus locations.
