Job Description:
The Scrum Master coordinates the work of an Agile development team and oversees the software development lifecycle. This role involves planning and facilitating scrum activities such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, demos, board reviews, and retrospectives. The Scrum Master collaborates with clients or end users to understand business requirements and acts as a liaison between development teams and product management to ensure appropriate project processes are followed. Additionally, they identify and resolve impediments that may slow development or prevent the team from meeting established goals or milestones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate scrum activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, demos, board reviews, and retrospectives.
- Ensuring the breakdown of work. Force the breakdown of stories into substories, tasks, spikes, etc.
- Help build the schedule for deliverables. (Development timeline, PMO would be ultimately responsible for the schedule). Resource mapping/loading, what is our capacity? (Project is what we need to do, team should be focused on who needs to do what).
- Strategically identify if the schedule requires more resources than the team currently has. Resource balancing.
- Collaborate with clients or end users to understand business requirements.
- Act as a liaison between development teams and product management to ensure appropriate project processes are followed.
- Identify and resolve impediments that may slow development or prevent the team from meeting established goals or milestones.
- Work with team members on backlog and processes.
- Understand and remove impediments to the scrum process.
- Escalation of risk issues outside of the development group to other management levels. (if we fall behind during the sprint, we don’t just accept that, we try to push it and identify what can be done). Take what is going on and identify issues to the right groups that can do something about it.
- - Years of related experience working with product/ device development teams
- Experience working with scrum teams with electrical, mechanical, embedded and software engineers
- Experience working in fast-paced start-up environment
- Bachelor’s degree in related technical field, Scrum Master Certification (CSM) preferred.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and Scrum framework.
- Ability to manage multiple scrum teams and guide them on agile best practices
- Proficiency in scrum tools ( JIRA)
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Basic project management knowledge and experience.
- Certification (, Certified ScrumMaster - CSM) is often preferred.
