Summary
Coordinates a variety of duties and procedures for the planning, implementation, execution, and evaluation of Kaufman Interfaith Institute programming.
Operates with a high-level of autonomy, organizing and administering programs, events, and other activities on behalf of the Institute and its director.
Represent the Institute externally, as needed. This is a part-time position.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Work with the staff of the Kaufman Interfaith Institute to further the goals and priorities of the Institute and the Division of Inclusion and Equity.
- Assist with the development, coordination, implementation and assessment of Kaufman Interfaith Institutes annual programming, internal and external events, meetings and program functions for KII staff.
- Coordination of communication for the Institute including internet and electronic, as well as written and other contacts within and outside the university.

Serve as representative of the Kaufman Interfaith Institute on committees and working groups both on campus and in the wider community.
Compiles data and materials for presentations and proposals. Gives presentations on campus and externally.
Assist with writing grant incoming proposals and annual reports, and contracts with external clients for both long-term and short-term projects.
Oversee grant funding and budgeting, including tracking expenses and ensuring compliance with grant stipulations.
Provides administrative support regarding all aspects of planning and implementation of the grant reporting for KII grants.
Tracks multiple grants and reporting requirements; initiatives and drafts grant narrative reports.
- Develop appropriate archival processes to maintain history and records of programing with procedures to inform the public of the Institute activity.
- With the director, develops and monitors departmental budgets, reviews budget reports and reconciles the reports with the department / offices records on a monthly basis.
- Generates reports, memorandums, correspondence, presentation materials spreadsheets and graphics, and other similar materials using computer systems.
- Performs and coordinates scheduling tasks and support services associated with preparing and arranging for major meetings, conferences, exhibits, travel, or other related duties for both internal and external contacts.
- Responsible for administrative processes for the institute and its interaction with university structures and outside vendors.
- Prepares independent contracts for work with vendors for both long-term and short-term projects
- Performs scheduling and managing of calendars, scheduling meetings and preparing correspondence, both internal and external.
- Writes and issues correspondence, reports and materials for the Kaufman Interfaith Institute staff which demonstrates ability to communicate understanding of interfaith issues.
- Develops and maintains KII email account, social media and website, and newsletter distribution. Coordinates, publicizes and / or provides support for special events and functions.
- Develops, prepares, and / or composes responses to memos and correspondence requiring research, judgment and discretion;
routinely writes edits and submits materials for internal / external communications.
Performs other duties as required / assigned by the director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree preferably in a liberal arts or social science discipline Religion, Philosophy, Sociology, Community Organizing, or related field
- Master's degree in liberal arts or social science discipline Religion, Philosophy, Sociology, Community Organizing, or related field preferred
- Working with a wide range of constituencies including students, faculty, staff, administration and community members Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
- Minimum two years of experience in : developing, implementing and evaluating of cultural / diversity programs and academic programs particularly as related to interfaith dialogue, interfaith cooperation, and community organizing preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently under pressure preferred
- Possess strong administrative and organizational skills preferred. Technical proficiency with MS Office applications, Google Drive, Outlook, and Zoom
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is normally performed in an office environment, though programming may occur across GVSU Campuses and out in the West Michigan Community.
- Some weekend hours, extended weekday hours, and evening hours may be required.
- Some travel may be required.
