Sheakley is hiring a construction safety manager for our client in Needham, MA. Our client is one of the nation's leading construction contracting firms.
Compensation Package :
$50 / HR for a local safety manager
$48 / HR and $150 / Day perdiem if over 50miles from Needham, MA
$150 / Month project completion bonus

Project Hours / Schedule : 60hrs, Mon-Sat 6am to 5pm.
Staffing Type : 1099
Project Duration : 2-4 Months
Scope of Work : Safety oversight of a beverage distribution center undergoing significant renovations. There is also asbestos / lead abatement.
This site requires 12k+ steps a day. There are vertical ladders to access the roof. Must be able to safely access the room multiple times per day.
The primary roof access ladder is located in a "Men's Locker Room". Please make sure the candidate is comfortable with this.
Also, the walking paths through the site are shared with various lifts and other equipment. A potential candidate must be able to hear potential hazards and walk safely in a moderately congested environment.

Contractor Certification Requirements : Minimum : BCSP cert with 5+ years of Experience, client would like someone that has experience working with a construction manager or general contractor.
This position would manage safety for subs on site.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities :
3rd Party Safety Professional Expectations :
- Audit site conditions first thing in the morning to determine if conditions changes need to be reflected in daily work plans.
- Receive, review, approve Daily JSAs.
- Stop work that starts without JSA approval.
- Personally observe CPs reviewing the content of the JSA with their crews.
- Ask CPs about SDS changes during pre-work conversation and update the SDS binder as needed.
- Provide Orientation to all new workers
- Maintain existing Orientation Spreadsheet
- Manage Hot Work processes.
- Continuously monitor site activities (walking the site 85+% of the day)
- Review JSAs with CPs during the day to ensure their plan matches the reality.
- Stop Work if / when unsafe behaviors are observed.
- Communicate to DG site leadership daily via email to report their observations. This is in addition to regular conversations.
- Complete Daily Safety Inspection report
- Review contractors' operator certifications, fit test documentation, etc.
- Conduct / Lead weekly safety meetings (Toolbox Talks)
- Participate in Foremen meetings to address observed safety issues.
- Collect / manage contractors inspection records.
- Collect / manage contractors CP and employee training records.
- Respond to injuries and lead initial site management related to an injury.
Review High-Risk Activities with subcontractors in advance of the work to ensure planning is sufficient
Qualifications / Education / Experience :
Three to five years of related experience in construction health and safety training and consultation experience is required.

- Solid knowledge of EHS and industry regulatory standards in construction, with the ability to communicate such standards to others.
- 3-5 years of construction safety and health experience.
- Excellent public speaking abilities.
- Energetic, ambitious, assertive, and an excellent communicator.
- OSHA outreach training experience preferred.
- Able to meet deadlines and work independently without direct supervision and in a team environment.
- OSHA and regulatory safety training experience.

- Work conditions are typically warehouse, clinical, manufacturing facilities, construction projects, and field conditions.
It may require working after hours, occasional weekends to respond to emergency or non-emergency situations
