Director Of Development
The primary function of the local office Director of Development is to create and implement a strategic plan to secure funding needed to meet the Unbound Now local office's budgetary needs and carry out its mission and vision. Responsibilities include designing and implementing an annual development plan; monitoring and sharing progress toward goals; leading effective fundraising campaigns; facilitating successful fundraising events; engaging and retaining individual, church, and business donors, including building Unbound Now's local office base of recurring donors; stewarding major gifts; and managing foundation relations, grant applications, and reports.
Design and Implementation of Annual Development Plan
- Design and implement an annual development plan to secure funding needed to meet Unbound Now's local office's budgetary needs to carry out its mission and vision
- Monitor and share progress toward goals, facilitating regularly scheduled development meetings with the local office Executive Director
- Provide strategic leadership in the execution and management of Unbound Now local office development efforts, including individual giving, donor appreciation, and fundraising events, and church, corporate, and foundation relationships
- Develop and implement Unbound Now local office fundraising campaigns in coordination with Unbound Now HQ and other Unbound Now offices, including but not limited to Giving Tuesday and End-of-Year giving, working with Unbound Now's CRM Specialist to build out and track campaigns in Unbound Now's CRM and Marketing software, Virtuous
- Lead execution of the annual fundraising luncheon by securing sponsorships and table sales, and collaborate with the team to deliver a compelling program that inspires strong financial support for Unbound Now
- Develop key presentations and fundraising reports for stakeholders, including Unbound Now HQ, local Advisory Boards, funders, and volunteers. This work will be done in partnership with the Chief Leadership and Culture Officer (CLCO) during the interim period before a Director of Communications is hired
- Coordinate with the local office leadership to promote key donor relationships, including helping to schedule conversations between the local office Executive Director and key donors and prospects
- Execute the plan for the annual fundraiser luncheon by securing sponsorships and table sales. Work with the team to facilitate a great program that secures support for Unbound Now Create and implement a plan to identify and cultivate new individual, business, and church support
- Identify and prioritize high-potential relationships and opportunities
- In collaboration with the Chief Leadership and Culture Officer (CLCO), integrate Unbound Now's key messaging into all development initiatives and campaigns
Donor Engagement and Retention
Steward and develop Unbound Now local office donor base, designing and implementing appropriate cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activitiesNurture and build the Unbound Now local office base of recurring donorsCoordinate a matrix of donor communication strategies, including phone calls, texts, emails, mailed letters, and in-person visitsEnsure that donors are properly acknowledged and thankedRespond promptly to donor inquiriesMaintain accurate contact information for Unbound Now local office donors and prospects in Virtuous, as well as using Virtuous for all record-keeping, including documenting interactions with donors and stewardship activitiesPlan and execute meaningful donor appreciation eventsOversee ongoing donor communication, including the use of Virtuous Marketing and automated workflows. You will perform this function in partnership with the Chief Leadership and Culture Officer (CLCO) and the CRM Specialist until a Director of Communications is hiredCultivate and maintain a close relationship with our parent and major donor, Antioch local officeMajor Gifts
Develop major gifts-related goal setting and fundraising plans and direct activities in support of these goals and objectives, coordinating with the local officeDevelop and propose strategies for the solicitation of major giftsHelp donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with Unbound Now's local office, developing individual gift strategy plans for major donorsBuild an annual pool of 20 or more prospective major gift donors to be solicited in the next 12-month periodSteward and build local offices' 3 Key Collective, a giving society for donors committing to gifts of at least $10,000 for three or more consecutive yearsFoundation Relations
Manage an existing portfolio of foundation donors, working to match Unbound Now's local office's needs with funding opportunitiesDevelop a plan to build relationships with foundation representatives, understanding the critical role of relationships in working with foundationsIdentify additional foundations with a history or potential to support the Unbound Now local officeLearn foundation grant cycles and track deadlines for applications and reportsDevelop a plan to solicit donations according to donors' expressed requirements and timelinesWrite and submit letters of inquiryDevelop compelling grant proposals in alignment with Unbound Now local office's case for support and funding needs, community needs, and intended impactMeet all funder timelines and expectationsEnsure timely and accurate reports to institutional fundersRecord / upload all letters of inquiry, proposals, funding requests, awards, and reports in VirtuousEnsure that all gifts are expended according to the foundation's intent and restrictions by collaborating with the Executive Team, Finance Department, and local office staffEnsure appropriate recognition of fundersDesired Outcomes

Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in nonprofit management, communications, fundraising, or related field5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, or advancement, including leadership rolesProven track record in donor engagement and stewardship strategiesStrong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
