Industrial Automation Design Engineer

I. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Create customer-facing Industrial Control and Safety System solution proposals, leveraging internal quotation templates, utilities and workflow processes.
• Adhere to Emerson Automation Solutions Industrial Control and Safety System design guidelines, standards and best practices.
• Lead consultative discussions with customers, principals, and internal colleagues on best practices and solutions to achieve expectations from both internal and customer perspectives.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Support sales personnel and product principals on a regular basis to achieve their required job functions.
• Work collaboratively with development staff and support staff to maintain knowledge of product capabilities, and to ensure that all communications between John H.

Carter Co., Inc. and its stakeholders are precise.

• Attend required skills and safety training via computer-based training and both local and out-of-state factory training courses.
• Limited travel and overnight stays may be required and will vary depending on assigned tasks to support sales and solution design efforts.
• Follow John H. Carter Co., Inc. policies, procedures and methodologies. Understand and ensure that TCC (Total Customer Commitment) standards are upheld.
• Work Safely wear proper PPE, comply with all safety requirements at any location, and remain alert and aware of surroundings at all times.

Experience

Required :

• Intimate knowledge of modern Industrial Control and Safety systems, and / or Programmable Logic Controller systems.
• Process control concepts, instrumentation and electrical concepts.
• Knowledge of modern computer, networking and operating systems.

Preferred :

• Directly-related experience in Industrial Control and Safety Systems solution design and proposal development, preferably with the Emerson Automation Solutions DeltaV platform.
• Intimate knowledge of the Emerson Automation Solutions DeltaV DCS / SIS platforms and AMS Device Manager platforms.
• Strong computer and networking skillset, covering both computer hardware and software. Operating systems include Microsoft Windows Server and domain topologies, networking includes switches, routers and firewalls, as well as physical hardware transport layers (fiber and copper).
