Records Manager III ROLE We need an experienced Records Manager at GAO (Government Accountability Office).
GAO is an independent, legislative branch agency that assists Congress through audits, evaluations, and investigations of federal programs / The records & Privacy (R&P) department withing GAO preserves organizational knowledge and enforces recordkeeping policies and standards.
In this role, you will organize, maintain, and implement controls for electronic records and information; develop and implement classification schemes, file plans, and records schedules; document metadata; and conduct appraisal and analysis for retention and scheduling.

RESPONSIBILITIES Execute agency-wide records inventory and develop file plans to ensure program records are identified, scheduled, and maintained per retention schedules Assist with storage and maintenance of records on share drives, systems, and applications; identify POCs and support migration, transfer, and destruction Classify and index administrative, engagement, and policy records; maintain varied subject files and reconcile inventories Perform word processing and data entry; enter / retrieve data from databases; prepare / format management reports; manipulate / digitize / transfer / compute / print information; prepare / correct reports and correspondence; ensure accuracy for audit compliance; conduct 100% QA on documents Appraise information for retention and scheduling; document and preserve metadata; evaluate archival value per GAO / NARA guidance Support digitization strategy execution and tracking; perform QA; establish, review, and save meeting summaries to the appropriate repository with correct metadata Assist with enterprise and role-based training, policies, how-to guides, and presentations; support Capstone Officials and new-hire orientations Support supervision and quality-control practices through adherence to on-site processes, scheduling, and periodic training REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE 3+ years of relevant records management experience with specialized experience in file plan development REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in an information or business discipline – Required Certified Records Manager designation - Preferred LOCATION Washington, DC 20226 CLEARANCE US Citizenship CLIENT Government Accountability Office (GAO), Records and Privacy (R&P) TRAVEL No travel required.
