The Armed Police Officer position provides for the protection of personnel and property within the INTEGRIS Health buildings and on all contiguous grounds.

The Armed Police Officer must maintain a current Law Enforcement CLEET Police Certification or retired Oklahoma Police Commission with certifications in one of the following disciplines : Firearms, LEDT or Custody and Control.

The Armed Police Officer will comply with the policies set forth by INTEGRIS and the State of Oklahoma for the safe and proficient utilization and maintenance of duty firearms.

The Armed Security Officer adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.

The Armed Police Officers responsibilities include the capabilities to perform duties which include, but are not limited to the following :

  • Ensures all property and facilities are secure, detects and takes proper action regarding unauthorized or illegal entry.
  • Controls pedestrian and vehicle traffic, ensuring that vehicles are secure and safe. Issues traffic citations and conducts accident investigations when appropriate.
  • Provides public services such as motorist & patient assists and escorts to vehicle upon request.
  • Assists with fire drills and inspects the facility for hazardous or unsafe conditions.
  • Prepares written reports on events and properly document details.
  • Provides assistance at the helicopter pad during landings and emergencies.
  • Completes special projects and assignments designated by the Sergeant, Lieutenant and / or Public Safety Manager.
  • Ensures that employee regulations, policies and procedures are adhered to regarding security and safety.
  • Assists clinical staff in the restraint of disruptive / violent patients.
  • Detains criminal suspects for the police when appropriate.
  • Assigns duties and areas of responsibility to personnel supervised, assesses performance effectiveness and provides necessary training.
  • Assures the Lieutenant and / or Manager is kept advised of current unusual incidents, operational matters on assigned shift, and status of personnel, equipment, and supplies.
  • Oversees the training and documentation of progress for new Public Safety personnel.
  • Can be designated as a Watch Commander, in the absence of a Lieutenant.
  • Coordinates closely with the Lieutenant and / or Manager to assist at crime or emergency scenes.
  • Is available to provide support and advice in matters of criminal laws during incidents.
  • Coordinates closely with the security management team to assist officers at crime or emergency scenes
  • Directs, instruct, and advise on technical police problems related to investigation and detention.
  • In emergency situations involving major criminal events may be assigned to manage the incident until a security manager arrives.

Reports to the Public Safety Sergeant, Lieutenant and / or Manager.

Interacts in situations with combative persons. May participate in fire situations. Participates in bomb threat search. Work is performed inside building where hazardous chemicals and gases are present, as well as outside in all types of weather.

  • 30 credit hours of college preferred
  • Oklahoma Law Enforcement Certification or retired Oklahoma Police Commission with certifications in one of the following disciplines : Firearms, LEDT or Custody and Control.
  • Completion of a Field Training Program with the employing Police Agency.
  • Training on Active Shooter Situations and Crime Scene Management.
  • Current on Firearms Qualification with the police agency.
  • Trained in Custody and Control
  • CPR certification
  • Physical exertion toleration exercise (pass / fail) 14 Push Ups in 1.5 minutes 23 Sit Ups in 1.5 Minutes 300 Meter Run in 75 seconds
  • Current Oklahoma Driver's License, with driving record acceptable to INTEGRIS Health insurance carrier.
  • 500 hours Armed Officer Training.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (verbal / written)
  • Previous experience in radio communications and 10 codes.
