Strategic Space Planner - Security Clearance Required

Overview

The Strategic Space Planner will support our government client in Springfield, VA and will serve as a subject matter expert on determining the purpose, functional requirements, and basic layout of specific areas in a multi-functional office environment.

The ideal candidate will have a background in the management of U.S. Government, Department of Defense (DoD) and / or Intelligence Community (IC) space planning requirements, standards and techniques for a wide variety of needs and requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a background in strategic planning, space management and utilization in a large private or government organization.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and assist with strategic planning, policy and business analysis to include, but not limited to :
  • Support development of government mission and vision statements;
  • Perform trade studies and assess trades between functionality and security risk management;
  • Develop process improvement recommendations and facilitate quality improvement efforts;
  • Translate operational requirements and mission needs into technical terminology and specifications;
  • Formulate internal and / or external policy;
  • Provide assessment and recommendations of new policy or changes.
  • Develop, apply, and validate operational metrics and performance risk assessments.
  • Advise on planning, design, reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, buildings, and facilities dedicated to the geospatial intelligence enterprise.
  • Assist the government in establishing space planning goals and objectives, mission and vision statements, policy or requirements statements and documents, or operating concepts.
  • Support studies and assessments and gather information to synthesize functional needs.
  • Complete strategic space utilization assessments.
  • Conduct physical space and allocation planning to anticipate and respond to emerging mission requirements.
  • Develop, execute, track, report, and maintain strategic space plans through completion.
  • Recommend and implement approved solutions that fulfill customer requirements per Agency Master Plans and Strategic Facilities Plans.
  • Conduct physical surveys of spaces and areas to determine occupancy and seat availability.
  • Support the semi-annual seat audit that validates the Agency’s occupancy levels based on automated workforce updates.
  • Conduct trend analyses to determine efficiencies in space utilization.
  • Support meetings and conferences as directed by client leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications :
  • Required
  • TS / SCI clearance
  • 7 - 10 years' of experience in space planning / management, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience as a primary author of mission and vision statements, policy or requirements statements or documents, or operating concepts.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; comfortable with interacting with department heads and managers.
  • Comprehensive computer knowledge and understanding of the full suite of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proven briefing, project management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Desired
  • Professional Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture, or a related field.
  • Experience with the ARCHIBUS Integrated Workspace Management System (IWMS)
  • Autodesk Certified Professional in AutoCAD for Design and Drafting
  • Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design
  • Certified Project Management Professional
  • Skills / Technology.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skill and can interact with department heads and managers.
  • Comprehensive computer knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Additional skills include the following : briefing skills, project management, organizational skills, and communication skills.
