Customer Service Specialist – Tampa, FL

Location : Tampa, FL – 100% onsite

Position Summary : Under the direction of the VP of Finance, the Customer Service Specialist is responsible for managing customer service and collections of accounts receivable within the Region. The role requires maintaining consistent high quality work, protecting Airgas' interests in receivables and reducing the risk of bad debt write-off.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to region protocols, achieve outbound call metrics, promote prompt payment of outstanding invoices.
  • Work internally across the Region and externally directly with customers to reduce total AR and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
  • Maintain quality relationships with branch managers and involve regional managers when necessary.
  • Engage field personnel as needed to expedite resolution of outstanding payments.
  • Work with Collection Agency to validate customer payments or dispute identified by the agency.
  • Complete administrative work with strong compliance to deadlines and prompt response.
  • Maximize collection effort in accordance with Airgas Credit & Collection Policy.
  • Reconcile difficult or disputed accounts; forward escalated calls.
  • Communicate escalation risks to VP of Finance.
  • Identify billing, pricing and cylinder issues causing customer service problems and resolve them.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • 2 years of experience in credit & collections, accounts receivable, finance or related field.
  • Proven track record of success in a high-volume AR role.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong customer service mindset, collaborative and non-adversarial approach.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Business, Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience with SAP or an ERP system highly preferred.
