Food Safety QA Supervisor

Job Summary :

  • Oversee the day to day inspection functions on inbound and in-house produce products
  • Oversee / perform inspections on outbound shipments to key customers
  • Report quality and food safety issues to management and sales personnel

Essential Job Functions and Key Responsibilities :

  • Plan, lead and organize assigned inspection team
  • Train inspectors to follow Castellini procedures when inspecting raw materials
  • Follow all employee safety guidelines, assure safety training is administered and correct unsafe conditions
  • Assure inspection team is performing assessments in timely, accurate manner, documenting on iPADs, to ensure timely receipts and shipments of products
  • Serve as point of communication with Food Safety / Quality, Sales, Warehouse, Transportation and other departments, as needed
  • Meet daily with inspection each inspection team member to provide two-way communication
  • Review records and inspection practices to assure food safety and quality standards are met. Correct violations
  • Assure absence coverage within department
  • Conduct discipline for team members who are violating employee handbook requirements
  • Lead special project
  • Additional duties, as assigned

Deliverables

  • Zero recalls as a result of quality mistakes on Castellini team.
  • Department productivity and overtime on budget.
  • Percent of home locations checks daily on target.
  • Zero recordable safety accidents on team.
  • Employee engagement score increasing.

  • Heavy lifting is required up to 60 lbs.

Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years produce inspection experience
  • Trained in USDA produce standards
