Alphanumeric is seeking experienced Freelance Medical Editors for project-based contract work. Experience with medical editing is required as well as knowledge of medical communications deliverables and style.

Typical project-based work could include editing PowerPoint presentations, scientific manuscripts, standard response letters, video story boards, and congress summary reports among others.

In this role, you will review copy for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with client style. All content will be edited and reviewed to project specifications and timeline as outlined in a project brief.

Role Responsibilities :

  • Review and edit medical content for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to style guidelines.
  • Fact-check medical information and verify references to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  • Collaborate with writers, researchers, and subject matter experts to refine content and address feedback.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of medical terminology, concepts, and trends.
  • Provide guidance and support to writers on medical terminology, writing style, and content structure.

Job Requirements

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in life science or in English / writing with life science experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year editing experience within the life sciences or healthcare space.
  • Excellent editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with style guides such as AMA, APA, or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide and accept constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and reference management software.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and ethical considerations in medical writing and publishing.
  • A passion for healthcare, education, and delivering accurate, engaging content to diverse audiences.
