Job Summary :
The Controller will lead practice and people with a strong passion for Continuous Improvement, KPI’s, utilizing technology to reduce manual touchpoints and working strategically on roadmaps and remediation.
Key areas of ownership are control assessments and improvements, payroll & tax, CI, and GAAP. This role works closely with key functional leaders providing financial input and guiding fact based decision-making. This position reports to the VP of Finance.

You have a strong working knowledge of the financial impacts of all business transactions in a manufacturing organization. You recognize the role of accounting as a support function and value creating cross functional relationships to drive increased financial understanding throughout the organization. You perform well under deadlines and have the ability to multitask, while still being organized and demonstrating strong attention to detail in your work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting activities in a fast-paced environment; provide team leadership and overall development in fast-paced and complex accounting environment
- Lead and support the execution of the month end close process and ensure timely and materially accurate financial reporting statements including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
- Identify and design metrics related to the accounting function to drive operational excellence and drive strategic priorities, employing a continuous improvement mindset
- Oversee the bi-weekly payroll processing for exempt and non-exempt employees including employee benefit withholdings, garnishments, etc., in collaboration with the HR leader.
- Drive continuous improvement and issue resolution across all ERP transactions and related accounting and financial reporting and analysis processes
- Understand standard cost accounting in manufacturing, including working knowledge of the bill of materials and the related raw material components, labor and overhead cost pool.
- Continually assess control environment and work with accounting team and cross-functional departments to identify and implement critical control improvements
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of external requirements, including audits, tax deliverables, and bank reporting
- Understand and oversee the standard cost revaluation process and related ERP transactions.
- Provide oversight to Accounts Payable function including vendor set-up, vendor bills and automated payment processing
- Provide oversight to Accounts Receivable function including customer set-up, customer payment deductions and cash application
- Ensure general ledger account balances are reconciled including Cash, A / R, Inventory, Fixed Assets, A / P, Payroll liabilities, Customer trade liabilities and Accrued Expenses
- Ensure proper owned fixed asset and leased assets records and record related accounting transactions including additions, disposals, interest and depreciation / amortization.
- This position will have 5 direct reports in the areas of AP, AR, General Accounting , Account Management and Payroll & Benefits
Food Safety Responsibilities
Ensure all food safety protocols and GMPs are met while executing tasks relevant to role.Clearly reflect food safety and quality as part of the JP brand, when planning and executing projects, and while interacting with relevant external and internal stakeholders.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Other degrees may be considered in lieu of experience.CPA or MBA preferred.7+ years accounting and financial analysis in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.ERP system experience - Oracle NetSuite ERP system experience strongly preferred.Solves difficult problems with efficient solutions by looking beyond the obvious and doesn’t stop at the first answers.Hands on experience in ERP systems (Oracle Netsuite or similar) and advanced knowledge in ExcelAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding, and demonstrated ability to influence up, down, and across in cross-functional situations.Desire for continuous improvement and a willingness to identify creative solutions to solve an issue with speed rather than perfection.Keen analytical skills and strong attention to detail.Track record of developing and implementing change which positively impacts company performance.Candidate must demonstrate integrity and dedication have a positive work attitude and strong work ethic.Results-oriented with strong process and execution skills, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, handle large workloads under time constraints, and balance competing priorities in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgency, drive, and energy.Desire to work in a high growth company with opportunity to grow in your career where roles and responsibility will evolve quickly. $150,000-170,000
Hired candidates may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses and / or commissions.
