Under general supervision, officers patrolCity streets; enforcelocal, state and federal laws; maintainlaw and order, and protectlife, property and deters crime.
Candidates for this recruitment musthold a Prior Police Certification that would be accepted by the Maryland Police Training Commission.
The starting salaryfor this position is $64,128.84 annually, andrises incrementally with prior experience.
Typical Duties Include :
- Patrolling assigned area to include all public and private businesses and residences, parking areas, and streets.
- Directing vehicular traffic; enforcingtraffic laws; directing pedestrian traffic.
- Enforcingall applicable City, local, state, and federal laws.
- Investigatingcrimes; securingand protecting the scene of a crime and the immediate area surrounding the crime scene so that no evidence is disturbed.
- Makingarrests of persons observed or suspected of committing crimes.
Minimum Qualifications :
- High School diploma or GED; and,
- Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job;
- Maryland Police Certification.
Licenses and Certifications :
- State Certified Police Officer. If you were certified within the last 5 years, your certification will be reviewed to determine if you are in accordance with the current Maryland Police Training Commission standards.
- Valid State Driver's License.
- Firearms Qualification.
