POSITION SUMMARY :
HIAS seeks a Program Coordinator, Matching Grant to facilitate self-sufficiency for refugees, immigrants, parolees, asylees and human trafficking victim through collaboration with community stakeholders and provision of intensive case management.
Note, the salary range for this position is $55,000.00-60,000.00.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Works with clients to identify opportunities for skill development and career advancement.
- Develops self-sufficiency plans for individuals and families to attain self-sufficiency goals, address barriers to employment and identify and make use of appropriate community resources.
- Collaborates with area non-profits, employers and other community agencies to look at ways to partner and strengthen self-sufficiency for clients.
- Refers clients for supportive services within May Dugan Center and to other community organizations, as necessary.
- Maintains ongoing understanding of any education, employment and other social challenges faced among refugees residing in the Austin, Texas service areas.
- Identifies opportunities to provide employment and cultural orientation within refugee communities.
- Identifies opportunities to strengthen dialogue and relationships between refugee communities and public and private stakeholders.
- Provides case management for refugee and immigrant populations with various issues such as but not limited to employment and education, housing, health, legal and social services.
- Attends local job fairs and responds to job advertisements by local businesses.
- Ensures follow-up with employers where there has been a suitable employment match identified.
- Works with management team to ensure file review process is carried out and that necessary adjustments are made for programs within Education & Employment programs.
- Keeps case notes and other files current.
- Documents all client interactions; creates progress reports and notes challenges.
- Maintains client records in compliance with organization policy and reimbursement standards.
- Works with supervisor to plan and identify program outcomes and oversee tracking of progress.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings for supervision, team building and program planning.
- Participates in regular supervision sessions to review cases, discuss employment strategy and monitor client progress.
- Keeps all client names and information and other organization business confidential.
- Guards client confidentiality in waiting areas, during phone contact and in handling of records.
- Ensures that all office and record security procedures are followed.
- Maintains a positive, respectful demeanor in all contacts with staff and the public.
- Seeks needed guidance in handling difficult client situations and establishing priorities for the job.
- Works to build positive, productive relationships with other staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS :
- Undergraduate degree in social work, social sciences, non-profit management, or related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Austin, Texas area service provider community and local resources.
- Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member.
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties and manage time effectively.
- Bilingual ability in a language spoken by the local refugee population is desired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), SharePoint and IRIS.
- Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle with current insurance.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate well with people of varied backgrounds strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write reports and make presentations.
- Experience using data and fiscal tracking systems strongly preferred.
- Travel, to include travel to insecure operating environments, may be required.
