POSITION SUMMARY :
ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Guest Services Ambassador at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
The Guest Services Ambassador is responsible for participating in the day-to-day functions of providing directions, building facilities information, and offer hospitality and tourist assistance.
Interact with clients, facility staff, in-house concessionaires, and related personnel.
PRIMARY / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Ensure the highest level of customer service. Meet and greet guests; helps in answering questions.
- Work in Guest Services Areas providing directions to locations within / outside of the facility, building and event information.
as well as to various amenities and services.
- Provide information on local features such as shopping, dining, nightlife, sports, and tourism attractions. (throughout the city and within walking distance).
- Complete tasks including copying, faxing, and printing, scooter / wheelchair rentals.
- Use a two-way radio for communication with management, security, and staff.
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, candidates may be required to work varying schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate business and client needs in the facility.
- Availability to work both evenings and daytime / morning shifts ideal.
- Must have the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous, and polite manner. This will include initiating contact with guests within 10 feet i.
e., smiling, saying Good Day , or helping when needed.
- Offer solutions to any guest complaints and problems; follow up to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Must feel comfortable when around large groups or speaking to a guest, as needed.
- Understands the importance of providing customer service and in understanding of The Magic is in the Details.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Knowledge : Should know and understand the fast pace of a large convention center. Basic computer skills required and the ability to maneuver the internet.
Ability to read and understand schedules and maps.
Experience : A minimum of six months’ experience in customer service. Previous cash handling experience preferred. Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) preferred.
Skills / Aptitudes : Must have a professional appearance and a passion for customer service. Must possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. Must have telephone etiquette. Must have eye / hand coordination and manual dexterity.
Must be able to listen, hear, and respond to guest inquiries. Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, symbols, and colors.
Must be able to work independently and maintain a positive attitude within a busy environment. This position requires the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people on all levels.
Must be able to have a good relationship with co-workers, customers, vendors, and visitors to the facility. This position requires the ability to respond politely to all individuals and work well as a collaborator.
Must be self -motivated, and flexible to change. Excellent record of dependability and reliability preferred.
Physical Requirements :
Position requires mobility. Position requires prolonged periods of standing on feet, and walking. Ability to go up and down stairs.
Occasional bending and stooping. Frequent talking and hearing. Ability to lift up to fifty pounds.
Working Conditions :
Indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to noise, heat, and cold.
