The ideal candidate for this position will have run projects for cross-functional teams, with a working knowledge of both business and IT project requirements.
Projects may span infrastructure, application development, security, and business process. Oftentimes, if not most of the time, soft skills will out-prioritize technical skills.
Requirements
- Lead large cross-functional projects within budget and committed timeframes through direct management or via on-site and remote project managers
- Be comfortable using a variety of project management tools, techniques, and processes. Projects may be agile, waterfall, or hybrid.
Tools used include JIRA, Smartsheet, Confluence, and MS Project.
- Coach scrum masters, project leads, and project managers for cross-functional teams to mentor / evolve them to be highly productive self-organized teams that deliver innovative applications with the highest quality (both inside / outside IT)
- Develop and support independent, self-organizing teams to enable scalable delivery
- Collaborate with business units to prioritize projects related to different initiatives, effectively communicate target completion dates and progress of all projects and deliver them on time.
- Identify interdependencies between projects and departments removing interdependencies when possible and effectively managing / addressing them when required.
- Recognize and remove constraints within teams.
- Recognize and remove roadblocks needed for project and project team member success.
- Create project / program plans spanning over multiple agile teams, IT departments, and business units.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders on the project status, changes involved, and key dates.
- Brief executives on the plans and progress of key initiatives regularly.
- Act as Product Owner for smaller projects / services / capabilities and define the requirements / prioritize features / build roadmaps accordingly
